Comfy Cozy...

You need this Kimono/ robe in your life! If you like spending the day in your pyjamas as much as I do, it's my recent obsession! Before I had the baby I knew since I was going to be home for three months, and a majority of that time will be spent at home in my bedroom with the baby I needed comfortable clothes/ pyjamas.

I sleep when the baby sleeps and am awake when he's awake, am exclusively breastfeeding, no formula milk at all! so being comfortable is key, I got some cute cotton blend night dresses with matching robes from Maxi fashion, and this beautiful Ankara kimono one from @marianna_kollexion, so during the week when it's just me the babies and dads, I have no need or desire to be dressed up, I simply cuddle with my baby in bed with my phone and laptop and we sleep the day away.

Green means Go...

Thank God it's Friday! Slowly coming to the end of my leave and the end of maternity chronicles! I have exactly two weeks before I get back to work, I don't have anything to wear to work so it's time to go thrifting again, I don't think any of my old clothes would fit me anymore, I haven't lost that much weight.

And don't think I have forgotten about that handbag giveaway, I really didn't want to give away my used bags, though I would give some of them away to my die hard fans (Elsa get excited! LOL) so there's a fresh out of the box with tags new bag giveaway! coming up soon as in next week so stay tune and make sure to follow me on instagram @anithascloset I promise you it's a good one!

My beautiful butterfly kitenge dress is from @marianna_kollexion who kindly made and gifted it to me, do follow her on instagram, she makes very beautiful comfortable dresses and her prices are just as beautiful, very affordable and she delivers!

Spotted...

Hello everyone!

Hope you had a lovely weekend, I sure did! nothing like being a new mom and have your family spoil you at every opportunity with excessive food and am all for it LOL! I will probably get back to work looking as pregnant as I left but am enjoying myself, my motto is, it took me nine months to gain all this weight, it will take even longer to loose it, am in no  rush, it's not like am some celebrity rushing to get back in shape for a movie role or a magazine cover, I was never in shape in the first place LOL and now even more so. As one of my good "cousins" would say Mazoezi na Diet ni Wito...it's just not for everyone LOL! In the mean time am going to enjoy all the porridge, soups, nyama choma, chips mayai and my biggest weakness Pepsi as much as I can, my excuse is am breast feeding!!

This black dress is my favourite! I previously wore it on this post HERE

Mint stripes...

When I was writing the post tittle, I thought of my own body stripes aka stretch marks and I thought I write something about them. How bothered are you about them? or about getting them if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant?

I think getting or not getting stretch marks is generally a genetics kinda thing, some people get them some don't, just like some people snap back from pregnancy in weeks and some will never be the same again. There are so many products out there for stretch marks prevention like bio oil etc., if you are newly pregnant then you might want to start applying bio oil or any other stretch mark lotion as soon as your bump starts to show, to keep the skin supple and moisturised at all time, there is no cure for stretch marks and once they appear you are stuck with them although you may reduce their appearance but they will not completely disappear. Personally I really don't mind my stretch marks, applying bio oil and lotion was out of the question because it was just too hot and I sweat a lot so adding oil would have made it worse, my only worry was if I will get loose wrinkly skin on my stomach after this baby because my skin stretched so much, that I would mind very much.

Blush...

Hello Tuesday!

Remember how I said blazers are your best friend during pregnancy? they truly are! They really dress up your outfit and take it from drab to fab without too much effort at all, even though am wearing flip-flops under my dress I still look put together. Blazers also cover your arms that may be larger than life and jiggly LOL.
I also made a point to do my makeup everyday, my eyebrows especially had to be on fleek like yaaaassss!! LOL eyebrows are everything, they frame your face so even if you don't have time for anything else like powder or lipstick, do your eyebrows! It's all about making an effort really, you may not feel like it, but when you look good you will automatically feel good, as opposed to tired and miserable.

The not so little black dress...

Hello everyone!

hope you had a wonderful weekend, and your monday isn't so blue! The one thing I have always hated about the week is the waking up so early in the morning to get ready for work, but strangely now that am on maternity leave, I wake up earlier than ever SMH but at least I get to go back to bed with the baby after breakfast, the luxury that I will no longer have in few more days sadly.

This flowy black dress is one of my favourite purchases from Splash, it was the last one in the store and even though the price was more than I would normally pay for a dress, Once I tried it on I couldn't leave it and best part it was not a maternity dress and I can still wear it even after the baby.

When in doubt wear Black...

You can tell by this time I was good and tired and so over the whole being pregnant thing, I just wanted this baby out by now. I mean look at the size of that bump it was as heavy as it looks, looked like am having triplets. It was causing me so much pelvic pain, during the last weeks of my pregnancy walking was so painful I would even be limping at times, not to mention the back pain, I would literally cry every time I had to lay down flat on the doctors hard examination table, at night I slept with four to five pillows, basically I was sitting in bed rather than sleeping LOL but I was much more comfortable that way and getting up was so much easier and it also helped with my heartburns.

I didn't gain a lot of weight with this pregnancy however I did have a medical condition called     Polyhydramnious which is an excessive accumulation of the amniotic fluid, that fluid that surrounds and protects the baby in the womb, which is why my belly got so big! but Thank God I tested negative for gestational diabetes and it wasn't a severe case and my doctor was amazing, she made me do a bunch of tests to make sure everything was okay and she closely monitored me through out and thankfully everything turned out fine, I did however had to have a C-section.

Minted...

And the maternity fashion chronicles continue!

Here is one of my favourites! I felt so cute in this outfit

By the way, I have made some few minor changes to the blog, do you like the new bigger pictures? let me know in the comment section please.

Also someone asked me on instagram what do I mean when I say an item am wearing is thrifted? so incase you have also been wondering, well thrifted means it's "mtumba" or second hand bought. I pride myself of being a really good thrifter, am all about that bargain, over 80% of my clothes are thrifted, I will only spend a lot of money on quality shoes and bags, I love those fresh out of the box and these two items make an outfit so spend your money on them. But for clothes I prefer to thrift, it allows me to have an extensive closet without breaking the bank, however there are items you can't find as easily in "mtumba" and for those I do buy in stores or online, things like a good cut blazer, I don't mind spending money on that it's an investment, also maxi dresses or special occasions dresses, shirts or anything that I can't find while thrifting I would buy mostly online and currently Max and Splash at both Msasani and Pugu Mall are becoming my favourite place to shop, the quality is so worth it.
