After everything that has happened to me in my life, I have learned to never panic, never share my worries unnecessarily, to always smile, to count my blessings because I have so much to be thankful for, to take responsibility of my own actions, to never hold a grudge (a hard one but doable) and trust that God always always always has plan for me and that my dear friends is how you keep your face free of wrinkles, your skin glowing and you will generally be a wholly happy person. It doesn't mean you have no worries, or drama or issues it just means you choose to look at the positive, the solutions and to live for the moment.

Once in a Blue moon...

 spot my kili-kili :D

wearing a skirt over THIS dress, this beautiful tribal print skirt is from Mama's closet :D...

...my current schedule includes looking for fabrics, getting Sare for my kitchen party, distributing the Sare, Venues, calling and calling and calling, suppliers, meeting fundi's, more material/fabric hunt, seminars, vikao, michango hunt (the fun part NOT!) I tell you this wedding stuff is no joke!!! I'm very much in my element now mama shughuli LOL, I insist in being into every detail :D though I have noticed my skin is getting darker and darker from all the time spent in the sun, I need a strong sunscreen and a huge hat! hopefully I will drop a couple more kilos in the process that will be a bonus!

Thrift Shop...

I just listened to "Thrift Shop by Macklemore" yesterday and LMAO...the song is currently at number one on a bunch of music charts...definetly a song after my own little thrifty heart! *bleep* awesome!!!...check the video HERE

I'm wearing: White blazer ~ BongoShopaholics, White sheer blouse ~ Gifted, Striped green bodycon skirt ~ Mr.Price (Just got the blue and white one), earrings and bracelets ~ Mr.Price, Bag ~ Primark via SassynClassy, Shoes ~ Bronx (thrifted) love them very high and very comfortable!

It doesn't get any fresher than white, green and a little earthy tan brown...easy breezy!! you wouldn't even guess how I was sweating my ass off with that jacket hahahaha...however it was a necessary evil because A. It's just so darn chic right? and it just pulls the whole look together and B. my butt in that body-con skirt tucked in without that long blazer on? just Obscene!!!!! LOL...

On other news, I have been told that I  have lost some weight yeees! and I promise this time I won't go into a celebratory eating binge and gain it all back again in a week I promise...I have also started running in the morning with my brother who is such a good trainer but unfortunately I had to stop this week after I sprained my ankle while walking on freaking flat shoes of all things, can you believe that!!? I walk in sky scrapper shoes all week (case point the shoes am wearing on this post) and I don't even trip once (well maybe once or twice LOL) but I sprain my ankle in sandals, I couldn't risk running and damaging it now could I? (no, this is not another lame lazy excuse...I really was in pain really LOL) I mean imagine if I  ran and I was told that I damaged my ankle and because of that I can never wear heels again ...the HORROR!!

Oh yes...I finally managed to do the top knot/bun up-do on my own!...I really should do a tutorial...it's so easy!! but my voice sounds funny on video's guys LOL...you have been warned!

Leso...

I don't know where I heard it, but I know there are people who used to or still refer to Khanga as Leso somewhere along the East African Coast...Zanzibar? Mombasa? or maybe it's one of those old swahili words that were lost somewhere in time...it's a very cool word..

Ben de LISI necklace ~ Viatuzi

Skirt and Blouse ~ made by Subira Wahure, Heels ~ ZARA via SassynClassy

I wish I had gotten better pictures of this look, my pphotographer today was an old security guard hahaha #bloggermadness so this was the best we could do...how I wish these Khanga za siku hizi didn't fade/bleed colour so easily after every wash *sigh*...someone told me I should rinse them in salty water to preserve the colour...too much work but I will give it a try...

These are some of the pieces done for me by Subira Wahure, check out her blog HERE who also made this kitenge blazer I wore HERE ...these are actually a blouse and skirt by the way not a dress! and they are made from two different Khanga's (Gifts from Mama), I loved these two vibrant girly prints so much I had to have them done and pair them together, and they blend so well!!! The blouse is actually this Khanga Peplum top worn in a previous post HERE...I just tucked in the Peplum part for today's look

The simple life...

I'm wearing: Blouse ~ thrifted, Skirt ~ thrifted, Black sandals heels ~ Bought in China, Black faux leather studded bracelet cuff ~ Lookbookstore.com, Watch ~ Montine via Emirates, Bag ~ thrifted

I found his little leather bag in Karume last week and I now declare it my favourite bag!! it's in perfect condition, I love love love the gold hardware on it and especially the big padlock, it instantly dressed up my very casual look. My oversize blouse is also from Karume's last week haul, plain on the from and a surprise of roses at the back...dressed my look up some more with some strappy leather sandal heels, and an edgy faux leather studded cuff bracelet...

On another note, all the kusuka has paid off kwakweli my hair is now reasonably long etii!?, I can even do a ka-top knot awwww teh teh teh! even the breakage on my hairline has improved yeeey! I do feel weird without any extensions or braids on my head so I give this head a week break and am back to braids or another weave.

Have a blessed week everyone!

Kaleidoscope...

I'm wearing: Blouse ~ from mama, Skirt ~ Thrifted, Belt ~ thrifted, Shoes ~ ZARA patent leather peeptoes from Viatuzi

My Sunday best Church look :) found this amazing vintage skirt with the most adorable water colour paint print on it last week at Karume, together with this rich purple suede belt.

People always tell me that they go to Karume and never get anything, how do I get stuff? the thing is, I enjoy thrifting, I love the process and the challenge, I especially love going mitumbani when am having a bad day, it helps me clear my head or late afternoon after work when they are closing, I find it easier to see things when they are being counted and packed (they count each piece of clothing left before closing for the night!!) There are days I leave Karume with bags full of stuff and days like last week were I left with just two plastic bags that had two amazingly beautiful handbags (mama has already taken one, it was that good *sigh*), this lovely skirt, two blouses and two belts...I never buy stuff that's already damaged and I check everything thoroughly before I take it, I check for stains (that can't be removed) and tear's (that can't be fixed kwa fundi) and I always keep an open mind of how an item such as a dirty bag will look after a little cleaning and if it's cheap enough that in case it doesn't get better I can just throw it away without feeling like I have wasted my money...

The key to better thrifting is Quality and not Quantity, have a sharp keen eye for details you like for example I like bright colours, ruffles and ties so whenever something catches my eyes in a pile I grab and pull (I never buy hanged clothes at Karume, I prefer the table piles) and lastly dont be lazy enjoy the process...

you can't built up a great wardrobe in a day, buy good pieces slowly and with care and you will have a timeless well stocked wardrobe that will serve you well but since you are a girl you will still complain that you have the "I have nothing to wear days" we are who we are after all LOL...

All Yours...

Hello everyone!!

My dear lovely lovely readers, please do forgive me for I have transgressed against you yet again! With the wedding so close I just can't seem to focus on any thing else but the wedding planning, but I will be taking a long break from work soon so hopefully I will be posting more often then. Now for some good news, I finally picked my wedding dress after a headache inducing decision making process that my friends had to suffer through because, I changed my mind every other day like a very long episode of "Say Yes to the dress" LOL (ushosti kazi eeh girls teh teh teh love you, mean it!) I have also picked the most important items which are the shoes ofcourse ;D all ordered to be delivered soon, so a big weight off my shoulders for now, unless they are not delivered on time in which case I will be hospitalised with a nervous breakdown...God forbid!!!

This was my Valentine's Day outfit, I tried to stay away from the cliché of wearing red on Valentine's day and opted for a fuschia skirt, worn with a floral peplum top which until yesterday was a very short baby doll dress, but with my handy needle-work skills I managed to turn it into this peplum blouse :D *clap clap*, I love throwing cardigans over my looks for that more grown and classy look.

in love with these earrings I found in Kariakoo, I had no idea Kariakoo was that happenning, will be going there more often from now on, so many cute little accessories stores with earrings of all sizes, colours, stones and the prices are just as equally friendly.
